Mr Cheng Po-Chi representing SCB management valued the cooperation extended by the SCB Union to get over difficult situation and to improve the banks business level in Taiwan post-merger.



Christopher emphasized the need for management to change their perceptions towards trade unions as partners and build up trust and collaborate to seek their cooperation for sustainable business growth; he enumerated number of success stories similar to what is being experienced by SCB Taiwan from various companies operating in ASEAN which are being promoted as case studies in Indonesia and Thailand. Christopher said, Unions will not disappear, they will emerge as one form of the other, and Employers will realize the danger of being forced to work with substitute organizations with no structure or a mandate operate from their employees.

TFFU President Lai Wan-Chai emphasized the need to educate the management to move away from the hostile approach towards trade unions with a view to control situations to take effort to build trust and confidence on trade unions during the discussions.
