UNI Commerce finds Tesco’s negotiation tactics to be out of order as the company threatens workers in a distribution centre in UK.



Tesco plan to relocate a distribution centre in Wales from one side of the river Severn to the other but has offered the staff re-employment on poorer conditions. The content of the new contracts cannot be negotiated and Tesco has threatened that any industrial action would lead to a loss of benefits. UNI Commerce finds that in a case when 80 % of the workers voted that they wouldn’t accept the new conditions the company ought to rethink its approach and be willing to meet with union reps one more time in order to find an amicable solution.



The tactics deployed by Tesco lead local politicians to encourage people to boycott Tesco until this dispute has been settled. UNI Commerce encourages Tesco to listen to its employees and show that the company also in its supply line respects and prefers social dialogue and honor its commitment to its own corporate governance.
