The biggest Greek telephone company OTE agreed to sell its Macedonian mobile phone unit Cosmofon and retail chain Germanos Telekom Skopje to Slovenia’s largest telecommunications company Telekom Slovenije. It was announced earlier that also Turkcell and Telekom Austria had expressed interest in buying Cosmofon.



OTE was being forced by the Macedonian authorities to sell Cosmofon following Deutsche Telekom's investment in OTE which gave it large equity stakes in two large competitors in the Macedonian mobile phone market. OTE agreed to sell the units for 190 million euros.



Cosmofon is the second mobile phone operator in the Republic of Macedonia.
