Following a request for hearing that SYNTRACEP (savings fund union) addressed to the Regional Secretary, a meeting was held with the trade union at UNI Africa office in Abidjan on Friday 21 December 2012.



Indeed, SYNTRACEP is newly born after its founding congress held in October 27, 2012 at Bourse du Travail, Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.



The General Secretary and the National Executive Board have found that it is helpful to approach UNI Africa to:

- Make known the existence of the union

- Discuss ways and means of their union affiliation to UNI

- Express their wishes to be coached by UNI because their union is young and needs the experience as to UNI union action.



It is with great joy and in a fraternal mood that the comrades have been welcomed warmly by the staff. Then, the office was showed to them after the traditional “akwaba” which means “welcome” in Côte d’Ivoire.



The discussions that followed were rich in information and very much appreciated by the SYNTRACEP delegation, and a copy of the constitutive Congress act of SYNTRACEP and a copy of their resolutions and motions were handed over to the Regional Secretary.



It is a cheery and reassured SYNTRACEP’s delegation who took leave of us.
