Syndicom, UNI Post & Logistics Swiss affiliate, reports that there hard work has produced a victory for the public service, a victory post, and a victory for syndicom. The new Swiss postal legislation decided on August 28 by the Federal Council essentially follows the claims of the initiative that was undertaken by Syndicom "For a strong postal service"



The legislation gives clear objectives for the development of the postal network. The greatest victory comes with the elimination of the full liberalization of the letter market, which was still included in the initial draft law. The pressure exerted has not only prevented a full opening of the market for letter mail, but has also introduced criteria for clear access for customers to a universal service and postal payment transactions. Moreover, PostFinance SA has been granted a banking license. The only downside reported by Syndicom is that the granting of loans and mortgages continues to be denied to PostFinance SA Postal Act. In respect of the demands that the network of post offices should be operated only with the staff of the Post Office, has not currently been satisfied either.



However, Syndicom’s initiative "For a strong postal service" has achieved almost all its goals. The Central Committee of Syndicom – is now recommending that they withdraw the original initiative "For a strong postal service" and accept the new léegitslation.
