Connect, UNI's affiliate in the UK, has agreed with BT to SUSPEND the industrial action for a period of 28 days with effect from October 3. Connect has now established a basis with BT to negotiate a potential settlement of the pay dispute. As a result the union is suspending the industrial action.



This suspension is a formal and legal process. Whilst the union clearly hopes - and will work hard to seek to ensure - that the dispute will be dissolved satisfactorily, it will be possible to re-start the action with effect from midnight on 30 October 2008.



Connect hopes to conclude discussions with the company sufficiently rapidly to put a proposed resolution to all members in a ballot within this 28 day period. Members will be contacted as soon as possible with news of these discussions.
