The Outgames are an international event organized to celebrate the talents and contributions of homosexual, bi-sexual and transgender men and women from every corner of the globe. This year the Outgames will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark from July 25 to 2 August. The registration for the event is open until 30 April 2009. The programme of the Outgames will include a wide variety of cultural and sport activities. One of the highlights of the event will be a human rights conference and workshops which will address issues and concerns of the LGBT community. One of the main concerns in connection to the workplace for the community is gaining basic decent working conditions, free of discrimination. Significant progress has been made during the last years but a lot still remain to be done. The International Conference on LGBT Human Rights during the World Outgames in Copenhagen 2009 includes the Workers Out programme which offers an space for unionists as well as opportunities to share and to learn relevant experiences and good practices in the field of work. The Workers Out! program includes issues such as: - LGBT people in a heteronormative work environment - Diversity and equality in the workplace - Equal opportunities at work - Organizing in diversity - Solidarity and alliances promoting LGBT rights In Denmark, the Conference is supported by and organised in collaboration with amongst others the Danish Confederation of Unions (LO), the Confederation of Professionals (FTF), the United Federation of Danish Workers (3F), Trade and Labour (FOA), and the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark (HK). We would like to urge our affiliates worldwide to join us and support this initiative towards equality. For more information on the event please follow this link: http://www.copenhagen2009.org/ |
