The store remained shut until around 10.30am when Walmart management arrived and agreed to negotiate with workers and their union on Friday.



Workers at Pacaembú in São Paulo City took strike action over repeated non-compliance with labor laws by Walmart.

Grievances at the store include persistent problems with the time clock recording working hours, staff being required to perform tasks outside of their contracted job positions, excessive hours of work, and not paying allowances on time.



The strike follows Walmart cancelling meetings to discuss workers concerns. In 2012, Walmart reported to investors that it had reserved US$60 million to pay labor fines in Brazil.
