Spotlight on Nagasaki for the UNI World Congress

UNI holds its World Congress in Nagasaki, Japan, from November 9-12. The Congress will bring together 2000 trade union leaders from around the world to set the course for the next four years. Delegates will be considering the a motion on the new strategic plan “Breaking Through” as well as a range of other issues, including a new plan to ensure that in all UNI leadership structures at least 40 percent of seats are held by women.



UNI is committed to peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons and for that reason it has chosen to hold its Congress in Nagasaki, the city of peace. UNI has taken an active role in the global union campaign to ensure that Nagasaki is the last city that is ever the site of a nuclear weapon attack.
