The second UNI Global conference of the Donnelley Trade Unions Working Group meeting in Chicago on May 15 May 2008 condemns anti-trade union policies, in particular the recent actions of RR Donnelley in its facility in Pontiac, Illinois, which are contrary to Decent Global Standards at Work and U.S. Labour Standards.

The UNI Donnelley Global Working Group has been informed that workers in the RR Donnelley facility in Pontiac, Illinois have been trying to form their Union with the GCC/IBT (Graphic Communications Conference/International Brotherhood of Teamsters). The company has harassed, threatened, and coerced workers by threatening them with plant closing, and the loss of customers. The company has also given the impression they are surveilling employee’s union activities and have threatened reprisals against employees for their activities.

The Conference members express international solidarity with RR Donnelley workers in Pontiac, Illinois, who decide to organise, trade union activists and GCC/IBT engaged in organizing efforts.

UNI Donnelley Global Working Group demands that RR Donnelley immediately stop all union-busting tactics and that they respect the rights of workers to have the freedom of association and collective bargaining, and that they remain neutral to any organizing and union recognition activities.

UNI Donnelley Global Working Group commits itself to insure the respect of workers and trade union rights wherever company operates in the world.
