Repulsing the head-on assault by US shareholders against the status of workers

On 27 October 2010, the Belgian management of Brinks told its Belgian workforce how the company intended to get Brinks out of the difficult financial situation in which it finds itself.
Brinks is aiming to change the status of cash-in-transport workers, downgrading them from salaried employees to blue-collar workers. This will lead to a loss of benefits and a reduction in pay. Management has presented “a take it or leave it” ultimatum. The management wants to declare all existing company agreements void, and to eliminate the workers’ entitlements. It also wants to close down the Strépy facility. At no stage have any consultations taken place.
This is unacceptable for the workers concerned, for Belgian employees and for their trade unions.
Workers have been on strike since 27 October 2010.
