When destroying jobs, multinational companies like Vodafone do not comply with their Social responsibility. The UN Global Compact signed by Vodafone Spain may be altered in the principles regarding labour standards:
(PRINCIPLE 4) The loss of income due to disruption of regular jobs or income-generating activities reduces the lifetime earnings of potential breadwinners and is thus likely to lead to the loss of food, shelter, and health care of whole families.
(PRINCIPLE 6) Discrimination at work by age. A company that uses discriminatory practices in employment and occupation denies itself access to talents from a wider pool of workers, and thus skills and competencies.
It is very likely that workers over the age of 40 are the main victims of the next collective redundancies affecting 1,300 people. And it is the collective of greater difficulty to find a job again.
Did you know that VODAFONE Spain, with 500 million profit, implemented a record of employment regulation on April 1, 2013 affecting more than 20% of its workforce, involving 130 outsourcing, 620 layoffs and 150 changes in wage conditions?
Did you know that some of those people affected by the collective dismissal became dependent on the Administration (collecting unemployment benefits) because they find it very complicated to find a job?
Did you know that, having financial capability, VODAFONE purchased ONO for 7,200 million euros in July 2014?
Do you know that on September 1, 2015 VODAFONE-ONO is to start another record of employment regulation affecting 1,300 men and women workers, which represent more than 20% of the VODAFONE-ONO’s total staff?
If you think that we deserve a chance; if you believe that we should fight for a better society and that multinationals should not only raise profits but also contribute to it, join VODAFONE-ONO employees and sign the petition here.
Do it not only out of solidarity reasons, but also because it affects you.
VODAFONE-ONO IN FIGHT!
