The structure of remuneration is a key question.



The campaign of the trade union to urge management to begin the dialogue started on the 9th of September, 2009, when the petition of the trade union, signed by more than 200 employees, was handed over to the management on the 9th of September.



The trade union demands

• the wages of the employees to be readjusted to the rate of inflation, and

• to increase the secure part of the wage (the great part of the wage of the employee comprises, now, the bonuses, which are guaranteed neither by contracts nor by legislation).



Its important to point out, that when the bonuses comprise more than a half of the wage of the employee, it means, that it is not a bonus any more. It is not some surplus, added to the wage to motivate the employee, but a wage itself, a main part of it, which is not guaranteed by legislation. When the bonuses substitute for the salary, it means, that the employee’s remuneration is out of any legal control. Such a situation undermines greatly the position of an employee and is nothing else but a form of precarious labor.



That’s why UNI supports strongly the demands of the MMP trade union and urges MMP management to adhere to the best labor standards, and to respect the right of the workers to have a secure employment and all related social guarantees. UNI will follow up the negotiations between the TU and the management, and continue to stand by the trade union, by the international solidarity campaign, if necessary.
