Over the past few years, T-Mobile has received various awards such as the “Top Workplace”, “Best Place to Work” and “Best Employer”, but a recent report by University of Massachusetts sociology professor Tom Juravich claims that these awards paint T-Mobile in a false light.

The study, called “The Corporate Rating Sham: The Case of T-Mobile”, found that the majority of these awards were self-regulated, using self-reported data with little independent verification and arbitration.

The lack of transparency involved in the evaluation process means that the awards are a better indicator of a company’s ability to provide funds to create a self-serving image of themselves as good employers.

Head of UNI ICTS Alan Tate said “This report shows the laughable nature of these corporate awards. In the US and Europe, T-Mobile have a history of mistreating workers and denying their rights to collective bargaining and union representation. These self-awarded accolades only serve to undermine and hide the truth.”

UNI Global Union, along with affiliates such as the CWA and ver.di are working to help T-Mobile workers get the union representation they sorely lack.
