More than 130,000 janitors, families, and communities nationwide have joined together to fight for $15 and call on corporations to #RaiseAmerica with good jobs.

We rallied in October, showing national janitorial contractors that when we stand together, we are strong. In March we stood with Chicago and Cleveland, as they negotiated their contract, and in June we rallied again in solidarity with Detroit and Washington D.C.

Through these efforts, janitors have won historic agreements.

Already, 25,000 janitors have won wage increases and higher standards. More than 50% of these members will make more than $15 an hour by the end of this next contract.

And each city has won important additional standards, like increased sick days, full-timing of work, strong non-discrimination language, and protecting employer-paid healthcare.

Niya Reed, a mother of three and janitor in Detroit, affirmed, “The way we ensure our kids' future is by coming together and fighting for jobs that actually raise our communities, not depress them. If we do that, we can Raise Detroit and Raise America!"

And we’re not done yet. Over the next 18 months, another 100,000 janitors will negotiate their contracts, and the communities we live in are still fighting for $15 and the right to form a union.

We fight because we know our country can do better. We’ve won for working people before, and we will win again. We will keep fighting until every working person in American has $15 and union rights.
