After the company hardened its stance and no agreement was forthcoming, Prosegur workers began strike action effective from 00:10 local time today.



A meeting is expected later today between the union and the company at the Ministry of Labour in order to discuss how the negotiations can be resumed.



UNI has called on the union and the company to pursue collective bargaining as the best means by which to resolve the dispute.



UNI has also called on Prosegur to honour the collective bargaining process which includes a legally protected right to strike.



UNI has criticized Prosegur`s human rights and employment practices in countries like Colombia, Brazil and Paraguay where international human rights standards and country labour laws have not be followed regarding the right to organise and to collectively bargain, including the right to strike.
