European social partners in audiovisual met in Sofia, Bulgaria last week to take stock of the situation of national social dialogue in the new EU Member States. The conference organised jointly by the European social partners (EURO-MEI, FIM, FIA and IFJ from the workers’ side, and EBU, CEPI, FIAPF, AER and ACT from the employers’ side) brought together over 60 union and employer representatives from old and new member states alike.



The regional conference took place in the framework of a project funded by the European Commission, which aims at promoting national social dialogue in the new Member States. As part of the project the European social partners have earlier this year visited several new Member States in an attempt to bring together the national representatives of employers and workers to initiate the discussions on national social dialogue.



Participants of the conference exchanged on the challenges the audiovisual sector is facing all over Europe as well as on the current relationship between employers and workers in different countries. Also experiences and ideas were exchanged on how to start building social dialogue, which gave the participants good tools to use in their efforts at national level.
