Statement from Chris Keyser, President, Writers Guild of America, West in support of the Bangladesh Factory Safety Accord

“The Writers Guild of America, West calls on GAP clothing to sign on to the Bangladesh Factory Safety Accord. There is no excuse not to do this immediately. Rather than distance itself from the senseless tragedies Bangladeshi garment workers and their families have suffered, GAP should be leading the way to creating meaningful change in an industry that has too often demonstrated reckless disregard for human life. Any delay in signing the Accord only increases the chances that more tragedies will occur. GAP is a signature brand in communities throughout the United States. Those communities need to know that the company is doing the right thing at home and abroad.”
