After midnight, workers from eight US airports, affiliated to SEIU Service Employees International Union, began a strike demanding better wages and better working conditions.

The workers, who belong to the cleaning, security and baggage service sector in airports, demand respect for union rights and also report harassment and intimidation.

The strike, which had been scheduled for last week, was canceled after the terrorist attacks in Brussels. In this context, the workers are also demanding more security and preparedness for emergencies.

This is the first strike that takes place in US airports, although they have already held demonstrations, protests and vigils as part of the "Fight for 15" campaign, the struggle for a minimum wage of  USD 15 per hour.
