According to the press release, the law will ensure the equal treatment of agency workers and transpose the provisions of the EC Directive.



The draft of the law was prepared and presented to the Parliament over four years ago. Regardless to its adoption, the law will come into force only at the end of the year.



The position of Lithuanian trade unions varies as far as labour hire is concerned. Before adopting the law, unions were able to discuss it in the tripartite working group together with the employers' and government representatives.



There are many local and a few subsidiaries of multinational temp employment agencies (e.g. Manpower Lit) established in Lithuania.
