Pakistan Post Employees Pay Tribute to Bro Tahzeeb

On Sunday 9th September 2012, all members of National Organization of Postal Employees (NOPE) organized a religious ceremony to pay tribute to their beloved trade union leader Bro. Tahzeeb-UL-Hassan at Lahore GPO premises. Late Bro Tahzeeb was also elected as the first President of UNI Pakistan Affiliates Liaison Council (UNI PALC). Bro Tahzeeb passed away after a brief illness on 8th August 2012. The ceremony was organized by all his colleagues to commemorate his death after one month. Tahzeeb leaves behind his wife, two daughters, son and aged father. NOPE members are making arrangements to regularize employment of his son with Pakistan Post. Jayasri Priyalal, Director of UNI Apro Finance sector, represented UNI at the ceremony and conveyed condolences to Bro Tahzeeb’s family. Priyalal said that late Tahzeeb was a very strong supporter of UNI activities in Pakistan, and also a genuine trade union leader who fought for the rights of postal employees in Pakistan. Priyalal recalled Tahzeeb's struggles in escaping an assassination attempt, and when Tahzeeb was jailed for unfound allegations several times under dictatorial rule in Pakistan. Bro Tahzeeb’s untimely death comes as a great loss to the trade union movement. NOPE members from all over Pakistan attended the ceremony to pay tribute to Late Bro Tahzeeb. |
