More than 200 workers (%100 at production) from Constantia Flexibles-Asas Packaging /Turkey were organised by Basin-Is, UNI Graphical & Packaging (G&P) affiliate in Turkey. Constantia Flexibles is one of the world leaders in flexible packaging with more than 8,000 employees and 43 manufacturing sites in 18 countries. Recently 73% ownership of the company was acquired by Wendel Investment Group.

Andy Snoddy, the Head of UNI G&P and Nicola Konstantinou, the Secretary of UNI Europa G&P have sent solidarity letters to the workers and letters of call for constructive dialog with union recognition to the Company Management.

“In spite of all the difficulties we have passed through, this is an important breaking through unity at workplace and there is no way back. We are so confident that UNI be with us with its worldwide network” said the members and Basin-Is in an activity planning meeting with an attendance by UNI G&P.  

In his letter addressed to UNI, Tayfun Terzioglu the Head of Ankara Plant welcomed UNI Call for social dialog and accordingly met with Basin-Is representatives.

In principle the company and union agreed on, entering into the collective negotiation, the appointment of the union representatives and ensuring the attendance of the workers’ representatives’ through out the negotiations.

The workplace collective agreement committee was launched and today is one of the turning point on this process that the company and Basin-Is are going to sign the protocol to go further.
