UNI-MEI in cooperation with VERDI and the Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung organised a two days organising seminar in Prague, 13-14 October. Representatives of film workers organisations from Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and Slovenia exchanged with UNI-MEI affiliates from Germany, Switzerland and the UK on conditions in film production and representation of film workers as well as prospects of collective bargaining in Eastern Europe.



In his concluding remarks UNI-MEI President Heinrich Bleicher-Nagelsmann underlined that “it is important for UNI-MEI to support colleagues in Eastern in their efforts to build unions and seek dialogue”. “We are building partnerships with the European employers’ associations through the EU Social Dialogue Committee in the Audiovisual Sector and work together to promote social dialogue in new EU member states. But this is not enough, we need to build stronger links with colleagues in the new member states and this seminar was one stepping stone”, he added.



UNI-MEI is also now planning to organise bilateral encounters between unions and associations to foster cooperation and exchange of experience in order to facilitate the capacity building of unions in the new member states.
