The Working Group to Promote Ratification of ILO C.87 and C.98 (consisting of Labour Congresses, Labour Federations, Area Based Labour Unions, the Thai Labour Solidarity Committee, UNI-TLC, the State Enterprise Workers Relations Confederation and members of the Global Unions Federation (GUFs) in Thailand), on World Decent Work Day, continued on their promotion and campaign action on the ratification of the 2 fundamental rights at work. This date also marks the one year juncture where this

campaign was first launched.



The continued failure of the Thai Government to ratify these two conventions is one important factor contributing to the inability of the 34 million Thai workers to organise into trade unions and take part in effective collective bargaining processes.



As such, a letter addressed to the Thailand Ministry of Labour has been submitted to once again call on the government for immediate attention to this matter.
