Montevideo. Wackenhut-G4S Uruguay workers union (SITWA) and Uruguay Employees Guild G4S (GEURG4S), respectively, approved the formation of a single entity that brings together all unionized workers in G4S Uruguay. The new organization, Workers Trade Union Centre G4S Uruguay, was voted by over 50% of both union members. The newly formed entity is the result of a consultation process that developed over several months to strengthen the workers representation in the company.

While serving as private custody of lives and property, the workers at G4S Uruguay have been striving for better working conditions and insisting that each and every one of their duties should be carried out within the framework of internationally recognized labor standards.

The UNI americas Regional Office welcomes the important progress achieved and will provide full support to the Workers Trade Union Centre G4S Uruguay, in order to contribute to its organizational growth.
