UNI Nepal Liasion Council (UNI NLC) successfully organized the 4th UNI NLC Women Conference on 24 September 2014.  The two day leadership training was also organized prior to the conference to ensure more participation of the delegates as well as the observers.  

The Women Conference delegates passed the Strategic priorities, action plans and activities for the image building and organizing more young women in the trade union.  Newly elected UNI NLC Women’s committee officials lead by Ms. Dipa Bharadwaj will be focusing on the decent work for the women workers, work life balance, minimizing the gender based violence and the improved health status of the women workers.

UNI NLC already has 40% women participation in its Executive Board.  UNI NLC youth committee has also got more than 40% of women.   This is UNI NLC’s tangible achievement of increasing the participation of women in the decision making structure.   The strategic plans and the objectives for the year 2014 – 2018 will surely pave the way for organizing more women into trade unions and building the women friendly trade union.
