Indonesian union had a long fight to achieve this - there were many actions and strikes against exploitation and cheap labour organised by trade union organisations in the country.



The new regulation will only allow outsourcing in five sectors - cleaning services, security, catering, transportation and mining. It will change the status of around 20 million workers from outsourced to permanent ones.



The law will also have an impact on temporary agency contracts as any contract worker employed in the same job for more than three years will have to be transferred to the permanent contract.



The Minister of Manpower and Transmigration assured companies would be inspected and loose their licence if the regulation was not respected.
