Already the world’s largest telecommunications provider in “emerging markets” and the largest provider in Africa, MTN reported this week that it will expand into Zimbabwe.



The company’s shares surged yesterday with news reports that it had passed the 100 million subscriber limit. MTN currently operates in 21 African countries, with its largest operations in South Africa and Nigeria. It is estimated that the company has about 20% market share in the countries where it operates in Africa and the Middle East.



UNI and its affiliates in Africa have built a network to organize the company’s 15,000 employees.
