On Wednesday April 9, an overwhelming majority of workers at the Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort voted to ratify their contract. The contract passed by a 109 to 8 margin. The pact includes wage improvements and a reduction in health benefit co-pays. The decision to accept the new contract comes on the heels of a ten day strike which had more than 200 members patrolling picket lines in front of the Chester WV casino. "The majority of workers seemed satisfied with this contract and are eager to return to work'" said Tony Helfer Local 23 Secretary-Treasurer. All striking workers will have the ability to return to their former positions as part of this agreement.
