The Pakistan Graphic Art & General Workers Union (PGA&GWU), affiliated to IndustriALL, expressed grief and sorrow over death of 36 workers and injuries more than 150  due to collapse of an under-construction factory building in Sundar industrial estate Lahore, Pakistan.

In a statement, Mrs Saleem, President, Waheed Ahmad Ch General, Secretary, Haji Muhammad Saeed Arian, Founder/Secretary International Relations,  said that due to lack of essential safety facilities at the factory premises and proper labour inspection by provincial labour departments many innocent workers have been killed , but the provincial Governments have never taken it a serious matter, thus giving the owners of factories free hand to violate the relevant Labour Laws.

They also condemned the Provincial Government authorities for their negligence in implementation of the building construction code. They said that due to absence of labour inspection is causing deadly incidents at the work places all over the country. They  strongly condemned the attitude of the owner of the factory, for ignoring the warnings and due to his this attitude  have been causing heavy loss of precious human lives. .They regretted that due to late rescue and relief operation, the number of deaths has been increased.

The managements of industrial areas need to provide equipment and machinery so that in case of any emergencies, human lives can be saved.
