During the month of January 2013, more than 93% of Monte Paschi di Siena workers approved the industrial Plan 2012-2015, providing a solution to overcome the crisis that hit the bank in recent months.

But there are still a lot of concerns about the future of the bank.

The FABI Secretary General, Lando Maria Sileoni, together with FIBA-CISL Secretary General , Giuseppe Gallo, wrote to the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, urging action "in support of Monte Paschi di Siena workers and their families".

The leaders of the two major Trade Unions are asking, in an open letter sent to the Head of State, also a commitment of the Government, the Parliament, the Bank Italy and the new Management, in order to protect 31,000 employees of the Group.

"It is necessary that the new management, as indeed it has done since the time of its establishment, will continue to implement a strategy to move away from past practices," write Sileoni and Gallo.

"It is also urgent that the Government and the Parliament commit to the regulation of the derivatives market, that even since the financial crisis of 2007, continue to trigger financial instability and social devastation", say the union leaders.
