Messages of support for the Ikea Turkey workers have been pouring into UNI Global Union and the Turkish union Koop-Is.



Solidarity messages for today's protest in Istanbul have been received from unions in countries including Sweden, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, UK, Austria, Japan, USA, Belgium, Romania, Russia, Malaysia, and Ireland.

UNI General Secretary Philip Jennings said, “The messages of support have flooded in. This shows the strength of feeling. The Ikea Turkish workers are not alone. When the international labour movement stands with a strong national union such as Koop-Is we can move mountains. Today’s protest in Istanbul is a clear message to Ikea that they must ensure all their workers worldwide are treated fairly and have the right to join a union.”
