In a great step forward, DHL Global Forwarding workers in Malaysia have signed their first Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Kesatuan Pekerja-Pekerja DHL Global Forwarding Malaysia Union and the management of DHL Malaysia Global Forwarding came together in a ceremony today in Penang Malaysia to sign together a newly negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The President of the union, Alias Sak B. Saad in his address to the ceremony that union members and management had come together to celebrate this mutual achievement. He said that the union was proud that they were able to gain union recognition and bargain meaningfully with the company to reach an amicable agreement on their first CBA. He thanked UNI MLC and Mohammed Shafie BP Mammal for their guidance and support.

The Managing Director of DHL Malaysia Global Forwarding , Mr Christopher Lim sent a message to the ceremony that the management welcomed the opportunity to move forward with trust and respect to implement the terms that resulted from the signing of this Agreement. UNI SCORE Head  Neil Anderson, was also present and he said today was a triumph for workers and management in DHL Global Forwarding Malaysia as they had demonstrated that they could deliver such an agreement.

Workers present to witness the ceremony were excited that the newly signed CBA, amongst other things,  would give them better conditions such as a new working hours and overtime arrangement, improved maternity leave, an agreed procedure for improving the Health and Safety at DHL Global Forwarding and a transparent open grievance procedure.
