The presentation was focused on the serious mail volume decline, decreasing revenue, revitalization planning, and so on. Special Labor and Management Consultation held a series of the meetings to turn around that business. Brother Eiichi Ito, director of UNI-Apro Post and Logistics, made a presentation of “the USPS under the business crisis.” In his report, “if something bad happened to the US Postal Service, similar things will implement on your postal services. In this meaning, we have to keep eyes on it.” At the opening of the second session, Brother Jose Umali, UNI-PLC General Secretary, delivered the solidarity messages. “I want two postal unions to be one soon. JPGU has provided seminars and scholarship to the members of postal unions. With these supports, I hope postal unions continue to contribute to union movement in Philippines.” Post Master General Ma. Josefina M. Dela Cruz was invited to this seminar. She explained the rationalization plan of Philippine Post. PMG highlighted how to revitalize its business, and reduce workforce, improve working conditions and wage hike for postal workers. The participants talked with PMG Dela Cruz over these issues. Unions and the Philippine Post shared the same philosophy on the postal business. So, unions were positive to the rationalization plan due to the fact that target of workforce reduction was managerial staff and clerks. <PAYATAS> The Japanese team visited the soup kitchen where local volunteers and UNI-PLC members provide nutritious meals with children of malnutrition. This center cares about 70 children. They looked smaller for their ages. The team members recognized the importance of this Payatas kitchen project.
