"It's YOUR call"



As part of the activities of Action month for customer service workers, the Staff of UNI-Americas, the telecommunication union SINTCAWIPSA, and Luis Anderson Foundation were enthusiastically distributing leaflets in front of one of most important call center in Panama - Language Line Services, located at the Industrial Park Costa del Este. The material promoting "30 Reasons why you should join a Union", and the "Call Center Charter" were distributed to the call centre workers.



Language Line Service is a USA company which started business as call center in Panama in 2001; it is one of first companies operating in this industry in the country, and has several facilities.



During our presence in the facilities, the security guards came to impede the distribution of the material; it was not a surprise for us. Nevertheless, the group continued its task; moreover, these security workers were also invited to join a union to defend their rights.



This company, as well as many other call centers in Panama, doesn't recognize the right to organize workers into union.
