Last week, a very fruitful workshop hosted by the Dutch union De Unie took place in Culemborg, Netherlands.
The 3D-Internship initiative by the Internet Trade Union was introduced to union officers from different countries, including UNI’s Lorenzo De Santis.
The project launched in 2003 by the EU-funded Leonardo Da Vinci project Globalplacement is designed to help young graduates/students finding an internship all over the world.
The idea is to implement the extensive network database powered by Globalplacement within unions’ websites while your site can obviously retain its own stile and layout. The product is sold to organizations as a franchise with three different business plans. In short, if your union accepts to host the database, the network will be expanded since you’ll become a new partner. For that to happen, you must buy a franchise and you’ll then receive income when students found internships through your website.
UNI recommends this tool to its members since it allows unions to get in touch with young future workers and can increase unions’ image towards the young public in general. It goes without saying that companies are monitored and minimum wages for interns are guaranteed. In addition, 30% of interns are offered a permanent position within the company after the completion of their internship according to Globalplacement. The internship quality certification used by Globalplacement also ensures the educational value of the experience and minimum working conditions for the students.
It also has to be said that both students and college teachers can rate companies and internships on the website in order to avoid any bad surprise.
For the time being, 2 unions and 54’000 students are part of the network. If you are interested please contact Rob Kriegsman.
