On April 28th, 2015 the IBM Annual Shareholders Meeting will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas. The IBM Global Union Alliance has sent a detailed letter to IBM CEO Virginia Rometty, addressing workers’ concerns and demands for the upcoming year. The letter focuses on IBM’s future Road Map and urges IBM senior management to meet with the IBM Global Union Alliance.

Regarding yet another quarter of diluted earnings and outsource-driven layoffs the letter states, “The vast majority of IBMers worldwide have a very negative impression of past road maps. They were associated with a disregard for the value of IBMers, with a decrease and stagnation of wages, and with continued job insecurity…. The past road maps stifled innovation and harmed IBM and its customers.”

To prevent yet another devastating IBM Road Map, the IBM Global Union Alliance demands:

 • A moratorium on all job cuts;

• Improved working conditions, fair evaluation systems and inclusion of all IBM employees in the disbursement of remuneration, bonuses and non-salary related benefits;

• Global recognition of trade unions as a partner in social dialogue, negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.

IBM has yet to respond to the letter, which was signed by Alan Tate of UNI Global Union and Kan Matsuzaki of IndustriALL, the global unions that form the IBM Global Union Alliance.
