On April 15^th more than 20 participants from eight different countries gathered in Brussels for an HP/EDS trade union coordination meeting jointly organised by UNI global union and the EMF.



After a short summary on the second action day in different countries, the discussion centred on the state of play and strategy against job reduction and pay cut. Since redundancies seem to be less severe than expected (apart from the notable exception represented by the UK), it was decided to focus on the pay cut issue in the future. To render the issue more visible, a joint EMF and UNI blog hosted by the UNI IT & Services website has been set up.



Although there’s good hope that pay cuts will be refused by employees in the West of Europe, the situation is less favourable in Central and Eastern Europe where workers’ rights are less protected. People are also worried about the proceeding and accountability if such a measure would be accepted.



Finally, it was agreed that communication should improve among the group. Apart from the above mentioned blog where people can publicly post their views, a new worldwide communication network will be put in place.
