Hong Kong Liaison Council saying "Yes" to organising

The leaders of the trade unions under the Hong Kong Liaison Council (HKLC) spoke openly and clearly that the union movement in Hong Kong would require more knowledge to pushing an agenda for the workers in the workplace, politically and in the society. While Hong Kong has not rectify the ILO convention on the right for collective bargaining, this should not stop the trade unions to continue organizing workers into the trade union and getting collective bargaining agreements. Mr. Lee Cheuk Yan, President of Labour Party, General Secretary of HKCTU and Hong Kong legislator welcome the move to revitalize the HKLC. He mentioned that UNI & UNI Apro revolving creative ways to represent workers regionally and globally augers well for the trade union movement. Global Agreements like that of H&M has reflected a new strategic way of organizing workers and this will open more opportunities for organizing multinational companies operating in Hong Kong. The firm commitment of the need to continue organizing in Hong Kong and be active in UNI & UNI Apro activities message by the trade union leaders was welcomed by Christopher Ng, UNI Apro Regional Secretary. The solidarity and the focus of the HKLC to revitalize the unions include expanding their organizing scope and group as a way to the trade union is a practical way to increase the trade union movement. The suggestions for regular exchanges and keen interest shown in new organizing methodology and effects of globalization will continue to be part of the functions of the HKLC. The committee will work in harmony under the gratitude & appreciation感恩惜恩 for each other’s contribution but at the same time challenging each other to achieve more. As a token of reminder of the “WIN” strategy, each union was presented with the Sun Tze Art of War bamboo scroll.
