BOGOTÁ, Colombia 02/11/12. Eight unions from the most important private security companies in Colombia met with the Minister of Labor Rafael Pardo on Thursday the 1st of November in a historic encounter.

The meeting was to discuss the lack of compliance with labour laws and standards by private security companies in Colombia. According to UNI and the unions there is large scale impunity in relation to compliance with labour laws in the sector.

The unions that were present at the meeting belong to the three Colombian labor centers (CUT, CTC, CGT). Regional Secretary of UNI Americas Adriana Rosenzvaig and Miguel Ángel Delgado from the CUT also attended the meeting.

It was the first time that Colombian unions from the private security industry have been received by a representative of the government to discuss these types of problems.
