Greek basketball league calls in police to break up players strike





Yesterday was a sad day for the Greek federation, league and government after the Greek basketball league brought in special units of the police to forcefully disrupt a peaceful sit-in staged by players.



The players are demanding that teams in the A2 division offer health insurance and pension coverage. Also, that a rule be changed allowing players to transfer to other Greek teams during the championship. This is necessary due to the current high rate of default and lack of payment by teams.
