With events and actions, the three unions highlight throughout their countries that there is enough money in Europe for growth and investment. The condition is that the imbalance between public poverty (public debt) and private super wealth is addressed properly.



Debts in the Euro zone are at 10 trillion Euros. By contrast, private assets amount to 27 trillion. ver.di, GPA and UNIA promote taxation of high incomes, high wealth and speculative profits. When this happens, countries can invest again in education, health systems, climate protection and infrastructure. This will create jobs. What unions want is that Europe’s wealth makes a decent living possible for everyone.



Oliver Roethig, UNI Europa Regional Secretary, congratulates the three unions on this campaign: “Going to the workers is the right way forward. The potential for decent living in Europe is there. Austerity is just an old wives’ tale to cement inequality and allow the rich to grow richer.



“Politicians must stop courting the wealthy. We need growth and jobs! Precondition are strong unions and good pay for everyone!”
