Mr. Tran Van Ly, Member of Presidium of VGCL congratulated the UNI Graphical for the work done in the sector. He warmly welcomed the delegates and also highlighted that in June 2008, Vietnam National Union of Post & Telecom Workers (VNUPTW) become the first union affiliated to a Global Union – UNI ! The Paper Process and Packaging sectors is growing industry in Vietnam as it’s a country that has many EPZs that is developing the product to be use in Vietnam and also for export. Mr. Ly looks forward in working closely with UNI, UNI Graphical and UNI Apro.
Mr. Peter Ellis and Ms Adriana Rosenzvaig reported on the development of the industry and the proposals for the UNI Graphical Conference that will be held in April 2009 in Germany. A research on the Paper Process and Packaging Sector were approved which will include amongst other, sustainable development, consequences of the energy crisis on the cost of transportation and its future influence on the packaging and paper processing sector. The delegates also proposed the organizing objectives and the expected results of the discussion.
Some of the issues that has risen was the increasing number of migrant workers in the sector that is not represented, expected redundancies from this financial crisis, strengthening the trade union and the future’s action plan
Twenty five delegates from UNI Graphical in the Paper Process and Packaging Sectors met in Hanoi, Vietnam to discuss about organizing in these sectors for 2009 on 21Nov08
