A union delegation participated in the GFMD "Civil Society Days" before the inter-governmental meeting to advocate for migrant workers' rights. The Global Unions expressed their concerns regarding the current situation of migrant workers in most countries, although some progress has been done during the last year, and insisted on the urgent need for a " rights-based approach to migration, along with more effective action to combat racism and discrimination".
