The Committee points out that there still exists a lot of obstacles to equal pay and provides recommendations on how these can be overcome. According to the Committee changes to the current legislation should not be the priority approach. Many actors are responsible to achieve the closing of the gender pay gap.The role of the Social Partners is highlighted and the Committee concludes that hidden discrimination in collective agreements have to be eliminated and stereotypes in job evaluation have to be removed. Where social partnership is weak or non-existent much more emphasis will need to be placed on the responsibility of employers for delivering equal pay.
