With a view to retain the skilled employees in the industry, and to keep pace with the increased minimum wage in different regions in Japan, Labour Banks and Labour Insurance Companies agreed to award wage increases to their employees during the annual 2017 spring offensive campaigns and negotiations with the respective unions. 

ROSAI ROREN, Japanese Federation of Labour Insurance Unions managed to negotiate a monthly wage increase of JPY 6000 for part time, and non-regular employees. Moreover, the unions also reached a milestone settlement to reduce the working hours by getting an additional paid holiday for the employees. Unions are pressing hard to introduce policies to help employees to achieve work-life balance while coping with child and elder care needs of the members.

ZENROKIN the Federation of Labour Bank unions struck a deal to re-employ those members who left the job to take care of child care and elder care needs. ZENROKIN is pursuing a policy to equate the paid leave eligibility of regular employees to the non-regulars. The union is also negotiating with the companies to grant special leave for those employees undergoing treatment for infertility.  Hourly minimum wage was also increased by 24 JPY in 11 Enterprises during the spring offensive negotiations in Labour Banks in Japan.

Majority of the enterprises unions struck the deal during a shorter negotiation period and finalized the agreements by 31st March 2017.
