After months of speculation about the fate of Deutsche Telekom's failing T-Mobile operations in the UK, the company has agreed on a merger with France Telecom / Orange.



This 50-50 merger will create a new leader in the UK mobile sector, combining Deutsche's 15% and France's 21.5% market share. With 28.4 million customers, the new entity will be looking to cut expenditures by merging networks and information technology, reducing administration costs and benefitting from economies of scale.



UNI hopes that both companies respects the interests of workers and any collective agreements that are currently in force as the merger moves forward.
