UNI affiliate Koop-Is and German DIY chain Praktiker signed their first ever collective agreement on 26 May 2011 at the union headquarters in Ankara, Turkey.



Koop_is and Praktiker had been involved in a lengthy conflict over union and organising rights which lasted almost 6 years. German union ver.di through their Praktiker supervisory board members as well as UNI Commerce had intervened on several occasions and mediated in the conflict



During the signing ceremony both parties recognised the benefits of an active social dialogue. They underlined their satisfaction with the agreement which recognises the strong contribution workers make to this successful company and gives the company security as regards their employee related expenses over the coming two years.



The agreement guarantees a 10% pay increase for workers starting 1st of January 2011 and two bonuses of 15 days each will be paid in 2011. For 2012 a 5% increase (+ inflation) has been agreed as well as four bonuses of 15 days each.



Workers will also receive additional social benefits such as a heating allowance and shopping vouchers.
