The Final Conference of the Joint Project on Transitions

In 2012, the European social partners, UNI Europa TAW and Eurociett, implemented a joint project co-funded by the European Union. This project was a part of the activities of Eurociett and UNI Europa in the context of their 2011/2012 work programme for the EU Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee on temporary agency work.
The project consisted of three main elements: the first was the field research, the second - a half‐day consultation with EU stakeholders, held on 6 June 2012 in Brussels to enrich the content of the research with the expertise of representatives of EU institutions, academia, NGOs.
Finally, the third was a pan‐European conference, held on 19 December in Brussels to launch the key findings of the research. The summary of the research is attached.
UNI Europa Regional Secretary Oliver Roethig speaking at the opening of the conference stressed the importance of the social dialogue and congratulated on a good data collected in the framework of the research. He also mentioned the role of the temp agency work in bringing workers to employment stressing the need of decent employment and equal treatment. He also underlined the key priorities of UNI Europa TAW, namely TAW Directive, organizing and collective bargaining for agency workers as well as efficient European information and consultation structures for the agency staff.
Joint recommendations on how to improve transitions in the labour market were adopted.
Conference participants also could hear the views of social partners on different forms of transitions and positive examples of co-operation. UNI's Danielle Jakabowits (CFDT France) presented the case on the vocational training of temp agency workers in France and Mara Riboni (FILCAMS Italy) spoke about the Italian "stabilization clause".
UNI Europa TAW would like to thank all its affiliates who contributed to the research and project activities.
Joint recommendations and the Executive Summary of the research are now available in English, French, German, Italian and Dutch.
