European Parliament MEP Poul Nyrup Rasmussen's proposed legislation to regulate private equity and hedge funds will be voted on later this month.The latest proposal calls for private equity and hedge funds to

disclose investment strategies, risk and portfolio-valuation methods. Rights for employees of portfolio companies have also been included to protect employees from the effects of asset stripping by private equity.



Attached is a copy of the revised text of the legislation that will be voted upon. The most important part of the paper is the annex. This is where the European Commission will have to act by preparing legislative proposals.
